A Tapinauchenius dropped from a tree into water and stayed afloat. This single observation says nothing about the genus as a whole.

What is known about the genus
The World Spider Catalog currently lists eleven accepted species of Tapinauchenius. Their recorded distributions span parts of South America, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and the Lesser Antilles. The list includes two Ecuadorian species described in 2025. [1][2]
A 2022 revision treated several names and rediagnosed species in the genus. [1]
