Ybyrapora diversipes: an arboreal tarantula from Bahia, Brazil

Ybyrapora diversipes is an arboreal tarantula from Brazil. The source page identifies the pictured tarantula as Ybyrapora diversipes but gives no sex or life stage. Published descriptions show that juveniles and adults look different, which makes verified life stage important whenever photographs of this species are compared.

Color changes with age

Bertani and Fukushima redescribed the species in 2009 and documented its morphology and color pattern. Fukushima and Bertani later transferred it from Avicularia to the new genus Ybyrapora in their 2017 aviculariine revision. The World Spider Catalog now accepts Ybyrapora diversipes and records it from Brazil. [1][2][3]

The 2009 paper reports specimens from Bahia and discusses arboreal retreats associated with vegetation. Those records support a habitat discussion, but they do not turn a single climate reading into a captive recipe. [2]

Claims in the old page

The old article prescribed narrow temperature and humidity targets, regular misting, breeding timing, and egg-sac numbers. Those figures are removed because the cited taxonomic papers do not establish them as husbandry requirements. For a future specimen record, the strongest addition would be a dated record of molts, color change, retreat construction, and how the enclosure is ventilated.

For the general enclosure principle used at birdspidersCH, see the Avicularia cross-ventilation guide. It is a keeper method, not species-specific evidence for Y. diversipes.
