The genus Brachypelma got revised in 2019/2020 by Mexican arachnologists. The outcome was, that all the Red Rump Tarantulas got their own, newly established genus – Tliltocatl. A combination of two indigenous words symbolising the iconic black spiders from North & Central America.

Cenotes are fresh water pools – or more precise, a fresh water underground stream connected all together with crystal clear water. Go on Wikipedia to find more about these amazing waters Mexico has to offer. It’s not only that tarantulas enjoy a waterfront, its also great to have a swim in them after a harsh day searching for tarantulas.
