Tarantulas of the genus Xenesthis are one of the most sought-after spiders for the tarantula hobby due to their size and beautiful coloration. The combination of these two attributes is somewhat rare in the world of tarantula spiders and is therefore much appreciated among enthusiasts and hobbyists.
Xenesthis sp. blue was documented in video in their natural environment for the first time and is presented to you in the link / thumbnail down below. This would not have been possible without great friendships and trust among enthusiasts to remain secretive about the true locality these amazing tarantulas live in.
Xenesthis sp. blue have been found to be the most sensitive to light during nighttime activities, the team and I have ever encountered. These massive tarantula spiders of the genus Xenesthis were found to inhabit deep burrows underneath large rocks. During the nighttime, the Xenesthis tarantula sits in front of its burrow at the entrance, waiting for prey to pass by. Even the slightest light emission from our torches/flashlight was enough so that the tarantula decided to move back into the burrow.

Several specimens of Xenesthis sp. blue were found on this location and we were fortunate enough to document different sizes of this species of tarantula in its natural environment in Colombia.
